Expressive Landscapes in Mixed Media
Tuesday 4th – Thursday 6th July
Debbie Loane studied at Bretton Hall, Leeds University and gained a BA (hons) first class degree in painting. Following a spell spent in Durham where she was artist in residence at St Cuthebert’s College, Debbie relocated to York where 10 years ago she set up The Lund Gallery where she is now based.
The landscapes of the North, particularly the North York Moors, Dales and North East coast form the basis of Debbie’s work.
Drawing and painting the landscape today is as exciting and challenging as it has always been. In this three day exploratory workshop Debbie will guide you through different ways of encountering and interpreting the experience of landscape though sketching and recording. There will be demonstrations in a variety of mixed media techniques that Debbie uses in her own practise, followed by plenty of opportunity to explore ways of developing your own responses. Time will be spent out in the open (weather permitting) interspersed with periods of experimentation in the studio with a wide variety of materials. Students will receive the course programme and details of suggested materials on booking.
Debbie’s exhibitions include; University of Durham, Durham Museum, The Quaker Gallery London, The Leith Gallery, Edinburgh, The Gallery at the Ryedale Folk Museum, Zillah Bell Gallery, Thirsk, The Walker Gallery, Harrogate. 2016 Debbie embarked on a major project following in the steps of Turner for the Dales Countryside Museum at Hawes.
