Interpreting the Landscape
Tuesday 13th – Thursday 15th June
Katharine Holmes is a well known Yorkshire artist. In 1997 she was the subject of a television documentary which focussed on the creation of her work entitled “Approach to Gordale Scar”. She has had numerous successful exhibitions.
She works in a range of media, her paintings are the considered result of a long intimacy with her native hill country, they reveal the different moods of the Dales and the effects of the weather on limestone, grass and water. She captures the feeling of “being in the landscape”.
Drawing and painting mostly outdoors, you will be encouraged to develop your own response to the landscape. Guidance and demonstration will be given on the use of watercolours, acrylics and mixed drawing media. The emphasis of the course will be on experiment, inventiveness and the enjoyment of new materials.
